
Alpine Skiing/Snowboarding
Boreal Mountain: Boreal is a great family ski resort,
known for its night skiing & boarding. It offers several runs of ski terrain,
along with a variety of parks and pipes (including one built for sno-skates).
It is a favorite with the snowboarders. Its 9 lifts cover 500 vertical with a
base altitude of 7200ft.
Sugar Bowl: One of Tahoe’s first ski resorts, Sugar Bowl is a local
favorite. Known for its hidden powder patches, the mountain provides terrain
to satisfy every style of skier, from the leisurely to the most challenging.
And the area around Sugar Bowl boasts some of the deepest annual snowfall numbers
in the continental US! 12 lifts serve 1500 vertical feet!
Tahoe Donner: Tahoe Donner Ski Hill is a great place to take the kids. They
cater to children with a “People Mover” style escalator lift that
the little tykes just love. 3 lifts and 600 vertical feet make this a small but
fun little mountain. You won't miss the crowds and it’s right in your backyard!
Northstar-at-Tahoe: A destination resort offering a Robert Muir Graves course,
driving range, clubhouse and resident PGA Pro. Summer or winter the mountain
offers miles of trails. Home to Northern California's largest mountain bike park,
when the snow falls then the boards and skis come out to play.
Squaw Valley: Home to the 1960 Winter Olympics, world famous Squaw Valley
boasts 33 lifts and 2850 vertical feet, the most in the Tahoe area. Their ski
terrain is unmatched, with groomed, mogul, cornice and back country terrain just
waiting to be enjoyed. A super-pipe, terrain park, ice skating rink and fine
dining also make this resort one of the best anywhere!
Alpine Meadows: Enjoy the panoramic view of Lake Tahoe and the Sierras from
the summit, then drop into the steep bowls or cruise off the backside. There
are plenty of runs on the 1800 vertical feet to occupy all skill levels.
Cross-Country Skiing
Royal Gorge: Royal Gorge is the largest cross-country ski resort in America,
with over 300km of terrain and four surface lifts. Enjoy skating or traditional
striding on expertly groomed trails in the lush forest at Donner Summit.
Tahoe Donner Cross-Country: Just a few minutes drive from The Boulders, Tahoe
Donner X-C offers 90 km of groomed trails in a relaxed, friendly family atmosphere.
Trails are track-set for striding, and corduroy groomed for skating on terrain
ranging from the challenging climb to the top of Hawk’s Peak to the wide-open
meadow around Euer Valley. And many locals go to the lodge for lunch, even when
they’re not skiing! Their chili, soups and sandwiches are excellent!
Other Truckee/Tahoe Activities
Tahoe City: A fun little getaway, Tahoe City offers restaurants, entertainment,
and plenty of shopping. Public beaches, Fanny Bridge and a public golf course
make for an exciting day trip.
The Flume Trail: One of the greatest mountain bike trails in America, the
Lake Tahoe Flume Trail stretches from Incline Village to Marlette Lake, by Hwy
50, along Tahoe’s east shore. The trail rides the ridge of the eastern
range, providing stunning lake views and challenging single-track trail riding.
The protected lakes and streams offer an opportunity to watch native trout migrate
to spawning grounds in summer and early autumn.
Commemorative Emigrant Trail: This mountain bike trail starts in Truckee,
and runs about 15 gentle miles, past Prosser Reservoir, to Stampede Reservoir.
It takes riders through forests and meadows on a farily level, well-maintained
single and double track trail.
Coyote Moon: This new 18 hole, par 72 golf course offers a challenging game,
along with majestic views of the Carson Range. At the foot of Tahoe Donner it's

Kings Beach: Kings Beach offers fantastic lakefront dining on the cheap and
a sandy public beach with a great 4th of July show.
Truckee: Home of The Boulders, Historic Downtown Truckee offers great restaurants
and cute boutiques. Truckee offers shopping, dining and entertainment for your
every need, from backpacking to sushi to rhythm and blues. Outdoor activities
include hiking, mountain and road cycling, off-road motorsports, skiing and golf.
The Boulders is centrally located in this wonderful mountain town.
Donner Lake: Located in Truckee, Donner Lake is a recreational paradise. Enjoy
boating, fishing, swimming, camping, picnicking at the beach, or sunbathing on
one of the dozens of public piers. Donner Lake offers parks, boat ramps, and
plenty of public parking.
